Thank you all so much for all the input, if we would have had more time we would have done something different, but we went with the West Marine system, expensive but today it is well worth it!!! We stopped in Rochester for 3 nights and waited for it to get there. It took a 70 dollar round trip taxi to go get it , but hey, waddayagonnado??
Plus we found a spot right in front of a hotel, we got a room, after 45 onboard a couch and tv were nice. We found we haven't missed it though. Ready to travel again. Writing this from Fairport NY on the Erie Canal. Heading east

Good pictures produce good memories. When we passed through Fairporte the walls were full, some kind of festival. So we did not stop. We are glad that your upgraded wi-fi will enable you to send us more pictures. Will you continue to update us here or should we be watching your blog site?

I can recommend Ess-Kay marina right before you go into Oneida Lake. Only because they love to meet new sailors. I still get a Christmas card from them. Then there is a nice lunch stop as you reenter the canal from the lake in Sylvan Beach.

Forgot to mention that some of the locks have electric. At least twice we spent the night on a lock entrance/exit wall where there were light poles. At the base were outlets for 110v. Nice for topping off the batteries.

The main thing is that you are happy with what you have now. Being able to stay in touch is the key, no matter which system you choose. Glad everything is going well on the trip and just think, soon you will be out of the "snow flys" areas, and soakin' up that warm sunshine!
