i noticed when they threw out the spin they didnt drop the jib and i wonder why all the others do?

If the jib doesn't interfere when jibing the spinnaker, there's no reason to drop it. An asymetrical does't use a pole and is tacked to a sprit, way out in front of the head sail, giving plenty of room for the chute to jibe through.
