New US CBP Reporting Options

Just saw this article about a new reporting option for boaters in the Great Lakes/Buffalo district. It is an app that allows boaters to clear customs at any location. According to reports it is still in the trial stages. Here's the article from CBP.

I saw that at the marina Tuesday. I hope it works better than OARS which seldom worked. The difficulty with OARS certainly led to more people saying the hell with it when reporting in from Canada. I often found myself explaining to some inexperienced CBP official what OARS was and how it was supposed to work after they requested I sail an additional 35 miles to physically report in. Two hours later I managed to convince him this was the procedure and received my clearance number.
