My depth transducer is not working and requires replacement. I purchased the Raymarine ST60 package with speed, depth and wind. I am installing the transducers in the same locations as the existing equipment. The transducers are too tall to be installed under the floor grating. Raymarine makes low profile versions. I can not get to the boat to check the hull thickness or hull to grate height to make sure these will work. Has anyone replaced the transducers with the Raymarine ST60 package? What height transducers did you use (part number if available)? Any information on installation would be appreciated. Thanks, Gerry

replacing mine

I am in the process of having all my Datamarine instruments replaced with the ST60 series. The local yard will be doing the work so I will definitely mention to them the problem you are facing. In fact, I will measure the heights myself tomorrow now that you have brought this to my attention and will let you know what I find out.

My Solution

My transducer was under the grating in the Head. When my new higher one was installed the yard wanted to cut a hole in grating and enclose the top in a wooden box! My solution was to raise the grating (only an 1 1/2"). Since there is a step already from cabin into head you don't notice the difference. I lined the peripherery with 1x2 teak and 5200'd it in place and then seated the grating over it. Works like a charm.

New Information

Thanks for the information. I also thought of raising the floor in the head but, also had a problem with the depth transducer in the cabin. Since my last post I contacted Hunter and Raymarine. Raymarine has low profile units with 2" shafts. The part numbers are E26009 (depth) and E26008 (Speed). They are made by Airmar and the specs are on the Airmar web site models P7 (depth) and ST300 (speed). Hunter said they use these also in one model of their new boats with low clearance. I hope this information may save someone else the time to investigate. Again, Thanks for the responses. Gerry

Transducers on my 31 are in a different place

In my 31 the depth transducer is under the vberth through the access door for the waste pump. The speed transducer is in the head vanity. A 4" inspection plate was installed into the floor in the vanity. The transducer was run through a small hole in the plate ad then to the hull underneath. There was no depth problem when I installed transducers for raymarine ST40 displays in these locations. Of course the leads were far too short, but thats another post. Good luck.
