Hi All,

I have searched and searched these forums for a good recommendation on a new trailer for my Mac 26S. But none have fully answered my questions:

Can I purchase an adjustable aluminum trailer and just move the bunks to where we need it to be? My guess is that the pitch of the bunks would be off, is this easy to adjust on my own?

I have seen trailers for sale in Florida but I am located in California and don't want to spend the money on shipping. I received one quote for close to 5K for a custom trailer here in California

Does anyone one know of a place that sells Macgregor trailers in California for less than 4K?

Also, what brand of trailers would you recommend?

I really want to enjoy my macgregor but my rusted steel trailer has me so nervous every-time we trailer it somewhere. Would it be worth trying to update and fix my original 1994 trailer?

Bought a new Venture VATB 5925 tandem trailer with brakes on one axle, led lights in April 2013 for $3400 total price including taxes and freight. It had long bunks. I converted it to cross bunks for my 26S. Max gross weight rating for trailer and boat is 5925 pounds.

it was a custom build. I took the boat on the stock trailer and they made some V bunks.

be sure the bunks match the factory bunks. that's where the factory built support.

I've seen posts here on people modifying a used galvanized trailer.

Krisrasm,
I did make the new cross bunks myself. Made from 1/2 inch flat bar steel 4 inches wide with 2 X 6 treated boards on top. Had the steel parts hot dip galvanized. It was a fairly lengthy process. Had to be sure the angles and locations were correct to match the factory trailer. If you will pm me your email address I will send you some pics.
