Hey everyone Just stopping in to give you fair warning. Recently I rescued a 1974 Venture 24 from a back yard. She was in pretty bad shape but, I've seen worse floating. I'm in the process of re-doing the boat. there are 3 cracks on on the transom and two on the deck by the transom. There is no rudder or sails. Other than that and a ton of sanding
I ordered west systems to get started fixing as the sanding is completed and plan on priming her soon after. I'll be spraying the pain on (fortunatly I have a brother who has been a sprayer for over 20 years) and he volunteered to spray after I get her in shape. The cabin needs some love (it's gutted) and Jenn (my interested other) is working hard on the inside while I work on the outside. I'm sure i'll be driving you guys nuts with questions and ideas... One question to start with... For interior priming and painting. can I use store bought primer and paint or do I have to go get marine grade. I was thinking why cant I use a store brand you know kiltz or bullseye or something along those lines to get things started inside? Let me know what you guys think or please share some ideas.I've enclosed a picture of her (Not Jenn) ;-) for you guys to see where i'm at. this is right after the powerwash and starting hardware removal.Jason
