JD'S boat
I am brand new to sail boats but not to boating. We just acquired this boat that has a normal keel about 3-4 feet deep I am told, w overall draft 6-7 feet but I am not sure as I have never seen it yet. It is still in our new slip we bought w the boat but our marina said this was serviced, painted etc for summer of '06, but we'll have to haul in the spring to check everything below the waterline. Among other things I would love to be able to obtain all the literature a new owner would have received incl. the owner's manuals. Also, we had to rip out the old gas tank due to a leak located just aft of the Vire 7 inboard so does anyone know the dimensions for a replacement tank-I lost my measurements-and where to find one locally if possible- cheap? The bilge pump backed up into the sink located amidship. My husband said this can't be normal as the drain to the sink tied directly into the pump's discharge hose. He simply separated the "T" and connected the pump's hose straight to the thru hull. I guess we can drill a hole just for that sink to eliminate that issue permanently. But, was this the way Oday built it? I don't mean to burden anyone but this is a whole new boating experience and I want to make it a pleasant one and stressless as possible starting out. My hus. says the boat is in pretty good condition overall so there is a chance we might make a serious effort to update it inside and out but if he gets the feeling it might be too much, he might back off. He has everything else we own to fix and maintain, too. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Janet
