Hi Everybody! I've been reading your forum for about 3 weeks now since we acquired a 1971 O'Day 23 w/trailer. We are doing minimal rehab with hopes to have her in the water by the 1st week of June. I'm sure we will have a zillion questions, but first, I would like to know if anyone can reco a brand of paint for interior and exterior and where to buy. Also, best application procedure? spray?Thanks in advance for your advice! Deb

As far as your interior and exterior painting goes, if you have a local West Marine or BoatUS in your area, they can give you all the information you need on the major brands, the prep work needed and how much paint you will need. We took your advice and took a road trip to West Marine in Indy on Saturday. We were fortunate to meet RAY who not only gave us an hour of his time and advice, but also owns an Oday 25! Also, SAIL Mag, April issue has an article that will be used for reference. We're ready . . . if it will only stop raining here.Thanks again for the tip!

Sail the boat

Forget the paint. Sail the boat. Spend your time and money making it safe, comfortable, efficient, and pleasant. If you must mask and brush, do the teak. Otherwise, enjoy yourself on the water. Drink some wine. Watch the sunset. Bottom paint is good to keep gunk off the hull, but save the topsides until you've run out of other things to do. Use the extra money to get away from work and sail the boat.Good luck.
