Here it is with the leaves up. It will slide up and down on the compression post on a nylon bushing and has a pinch bolt underneath to lock it in place. It will also slide all the way up to the cieling and out of the way to access all the storage areas in the bow. Very sturdy and solid now.

I'm getting the boat ready to go to the Sea of Cortez mid April for 3 weeks. We will put in at San Carlos. We still have 3 feet of snow in the front yard. I can't wait to get the boat wet in some warm water and invent new boat drinks. Bring your 240 down and join us if you can.

Cabin Table
Rudi, Nice project for next winter. I really like the idea of dropping the table to make converting the bunk more convenient. I'd like to see how you did the underside. The reason the stock table won't drop completely down into the grove is the big support that stabalizes the table. Without it the table would be very wobbly. How did you handle that? I assume you used biskets glue to join the two pieces.

Will Compression Post Move?
Great job Reudi! I know you had to cut everything around the compression post in your project. Is there ANY way to raise the compression post to allow sliding the components onto the post? How did you get the old bushing off the pole? I'd appreciate hearing from Reudi and others who have scratched their head over this one. Thanks, BrianW

A lot of interest here
It seems there are many of us interested in modifying our oversized 260 tables. A few pictures are worth a few thousand words. Could you please put pictures of the project on the HOW photo section? Can you still use the V-birth with some sort of drop-in extension? Brigg

Just spent time looking at this..
seems the the present table can be cut down to about 16" wide, with leaves on either side made fromt remainder. That eliminates the need to replace the oem plastic support piece under the table. Of course, that doesn't solve the issue of lowering the table to make a bed that some of you have mentioned. My father (it's his boat) is looking at two cuts on either side to make drop leaves. Also, reducing the overall length of the table. He's made an insert to form the v-berth so that the table doesn't have to swivel for sleeping. Other thoughts?
