Well, I've just sprayed on the last coat of varnish and the table is ready to install. This is plywood with a teak veneer and a walnut inlay of the Hunter logo. Will put it into the boat sometime in the next month. Table is about 4" smaller than the original. Jim S/V Java

tables too large

Hey Jim, nice job. Is it a design trend to install tables too large? I just finished making a much smaller table for my C250.

Design trends

The table is indeed beautifully done. How did you do the inlay? Modern boat design definitely puts in a table that is too large when at sea. Boats are being designed to sit at the slip - not to be at sea. I am amazed how few new designs under 45 ft actually have a sea berth for port and starboard tacks. I guess many new owners are not going to be making passages where anyone will need to sleep while underway. This is my pet peeve. A sailboat must have sea berths and a table that is not in the way in a rough sea.
