Always uplifting to see that our wonderful Hunter Cherubini's are being maintained and upgraded by existing and new owners.

From your photographs, it looks like you have a nice peaceful dock/mooring. Probably a great place to spend time at.

What material are you planning to finish the floor with? Mine is in good shape for now, but after the last sanding/refinishing the teak/holly veneer is too thin to ever sand again.

Thanks for sharing the photos, Don. Having seen the arch in real life, I can assure everyone it is one of the most professional pieces of stainless I have ever seen. The arch is integrated with the extended stern pit and includes a great seat which overhangs the transom and stretches the width of the boat. A very nice bit of design.

Cabin sole

Don, nice work on removing the old teak & holly sole. On mine, the plywood extends right under the galley counter at the sink. Did you cut yours around the counter base? I don't fancy disassembling the entire galley as well. Wil you replace with new T & H plywood or go the Lonseal route? Thanks for posting these pictures. If anyone has ever torn apart the counter surrounding the icebox, it would be great to have some pictures of that too. I have never been able to understand how the icebox, the FG floor pan and the area around the drawers all come together.

Great work Don. I am so envious. Not just for the great results but that you have the time and the talent. Cannot wait to see the end result of the cabin sole. As mentioned, the arch design and workmanship is superb!

Thanks for the coments from all. The arch was put on for us to mount our solar panels too. (a work still in progress) Once installed we should be able to comfortably run a 12 volt elec. fridge 24/7 off the grid.
The flooring will be mahogany and holly. I found a place locally that sells it for about half the cost of teak and holly. We are using Bristol finish and will let everyone know how it turns out.
If i had to do it again i think i would have gone with lonseal flooring. a lot less work to install and maintain.
The flooring under the the sink was removed and I think i will be able to slide the new flooring back under the cabinet.
On another note, i was in bayfield, Ont. today and stopped to cruise thru the local Marina and found 2 hunter 37 sailboats. The first is a 1984 model and the second looks to be a 1980 to 1983. Both boats look to be in fairly good shape.

Hi Don,

One of those Bayfield 1983 37 Cutters is mine! I've had it for about 6 weeks now. I also have plans for a solar panel arch, so I'm keeping your pictures 8^)

I won't steal your thread. If I have some post-worthy pictures of my improvements, I'll upload them in a new thread, but here's a summary so far:
-stripped out all the stanky old hull carpet, cleaned out all the glue with Acetone. ( this took 3 weekends ) Painted most of the interior hull with Bilgekote. Select hullsides will get new carpet as soon as I can figure out the best way to Velcro them on.
-stripped off the cloth wallpaper and glue from the bulkheads. We plan to replace with white Melamine unless I can find some teak color.

My upgrade list is endless....

Colin
