After a 16 month refit/rebuild we're back in the water. During this time we upgraded the standing rigging from the chainplates up to the mast head toggles. This included 5/16ths shrouds all around. Anyone else make this change. If so, how did it work for you.

I am contemplating new standing rigging for my boat this winter. I am thinking rolled swages at the upper ends and StaLok or Norsemen made-up terminals on the lower ends. What did you go for?

I had my chainplates out a couple of summers ago and inspected them very closely. I could see no reason to replace them at that time.

Replaced mine in 2011 as you suggest Jim, rolled at top and Norsemen at the bottom. But I stayed with the original sizes of 1/4" shrouds and 9/32" back and fore stays. I did not replace the mid forestay nor the running backstays.

Jim, three of our top swages had crack's, so we installed norsemen at the top and bottom. The bolt holes on our chainplates were elongated. The new plates are 2" wide by 3/8" thick with 1/2" bolts. The rig was original 1984.
