Has anyone had success using a depth transducer from an old Standard Horizon Depth Instrument with a Simrad Multifunction Display (MFD) ? I've got a new NSS8 mfd. Old Std Horizon DS-10 transducer. The transducer has only a two connector RCA plug ... wondering if I can use it with the Simrad.

Follow on question .... if that old transducer will not work ... does anyone know if a new Simrad transducer is the same diameter and fitting type as the old Std Horizon transducers? If I need a new transducer, it would be nice if I could use the same thru-hull without pulling the boat out of the water to install a new thru-hull.

Thanks!

not quite what you're trying to do but I connected an old Simrad transducer to a new Raymarine MFD. I understand that it's all in the frequency and that the biggest producer of transducers is Airmar? I believe it should be possible.

Banana ... thanks .. just was at the boat and took another look at the cable coming off the transducer .. it is labelled "Airmar" dst-25 and 200 Khz ... hopefully I'm in luck!

Is it RG58 coax? I recently repaired my old Datamarine knotmeter with BNC connectors on that coax. Don't know if it'll work with what you have.

airmar transducer ...

the coax has a label on it "airmar" "200 Khz" "dst-25" "4-AF" "sc1547A/376"

the NSS8 MFD install manual is shown in the third pic ... next question is - I've got two wires (shield and signal(?)) on the coax .. which leads do I connect them to?

it works

I split the coax and wired it to the NSS MFD plug ... works like a charm
