Has anyone been following the new GO Series XSE Chartplotter/Sonar units.
They look interesting and the 5" is only $419.00. It includes several sonar modes (including Forward Scan), GPS, Chartplotter, Instrument Cluster Display, Nmea2000, Wifi, Touch Screen.

The only problem is the forward scan transducer is more expensive than the plotter.

I'll have to wait until our dollar goes back to being on par with the US dollar:(.

Basically the same unit as the B&G Vulcan. I believe the Vulcan has sailing specific features that the Simard unit doesn't have.

Big difference between the Vulcan series and Zeus2 series is the ability to include radar, the Zeus can, the vulcan can't.

B&G is also having a contest with the prize being a 5" Vulcan. Hey, you never know!

You're correct. It looks like a few more features and the same price (5"). I entered the contest, who knows.

Never felt the need to have a sonar, however if you operate a simrad chartplotter with Navionics charting you can download the shared sonar bathymetry that others share back to Navionics. I have tried it a few times and saw no value in 1ft bottom contours, it muddies the display. The fishermen seem to like it.
