new salon table

OK here is my rendition of a salon table for S2 9.2a ...it is made out of andaroba planks and biscuit joined together and glued with gorilla glue....it is finished with watco teak oil (6 coats)...i didn't like the original table design and it was too boxy and had sharp corners....i think this will suet me just fine....see pics below

Thank you ....the gorilla glue is water proof (urethane based) and it holds well ...also it does not leave a line in the joints and saturates the biscuits very well and sands well with out disturbing the glue joints ...epoxy is hard to sand and leaves traces of the clean up when you get the run over on the squeeze out from clamping......

It has been my experience with Gorilla glue that when it is applied correctly and cured, the wood around it will give before the glued joint.

It'll also take a stain if that's ever in the plan. Damned fine glue.

no i don't think i will refinish the sole....but i am going to replace it with new teak and holly and finish that it will take about 1 and 1/2 sheets to do the job ..thanks for the complement...

that is correct as all that has been said about gorilla glue here good stuff...it was perfected in Holland and is used in the wooden boat industry with great success...

I started out trying to paint the compass rose on first. But it got to be so complicated. And it would have taken me two weeks to do it. That I went down to local printing shop and had a decal made. And put it underneath the clear coat first. I sprayed on about 12 coats of clear coat Then I couldn't stop myself so I did my cock pit table as well.

That's funny. You're pretty close to that description. I just like to make things shiny.

Yeah, I wouldn't use epoxy for an interior lamination like that, either. For properly smooth, tight joints, clamped well so that the glue doesn't foam up, Gorilla Glue is a fine choice for this application, and even Titebond 2 or 3 would be good also.

That is a great looking table! Do you feel the need for fiddles on the sides to keep stuff from slipping off? Or are you only using the table in a protected area with limited wave action? Do other boat wakes disturb a table enough to require fiddles? These are questions I've been wondering if I build a table myself…
