Well, sailing and racing on San Francisco Bay has taken its toll and I’m looking at replacing my main and possibly the genoa. I am exploring the newer materials such as Doyle’s D4 Stratus cloth and UK’s Tape Drive. Doe anybody have any feed back on these materials? I am concentrating on the Tape Drive right now. How well do the load tapes hold up? I can get the tapes in either Carbon or Spectra and I was wondering if the Spectra will hold up better in the UV. But I’m also concerned that the Spectra load tapes would give me a sail that is marginally better than polyester (but at Tape Drive prices!). My boat is a Catalina 34, and besides cruising, I race YRA, One Design, Club and Single Handed events.

Try this

Try talking with Clarke Bassett, Kappa Sails. He was able to supply our Catalina 34 the best of sails, improving our speed, trim settings, reefing and pointing. We are very pleased with Kappa sails on our Catalina.
