I am new to sailing and have a Cat22. I'm not looking to get one anytime soon, but I'm curious as to what size of spinnaker and what hardware I need to run one on my boat. I currently only have a mainsail and a jib. Thank you for any information anyone might be able to provide. Jeff

Go for it

Sure. You might want to go for a tri radial that doesnt require a spin pole. Much easier to use and lots of fun. Look at the Catalina owners.com web site for sails.

Really lost now!

I'm so new I don't know what a tri radial is nor what to really look at. I tried searching on the catalinaowners.com site, but found nothing when I put in tri radial. I haven't even had my boat in the water yet. Maybe this week, but no later than next Monday I plan on taking it out on the water. Thanks, Jeff

Spinnaker

Look for the Chandlery on the Homepage, Look under Sailloft for Doyle's spinnaker estimator. The picture there is of a Triradial Spinnaker. Radial panel layout in all three corners, as opposed to two or less. There is also a link here to what is required with the sail. Poleless cruising spinnakers require much less equipment, and work nearly as well unless you're trying to head straight downwind.
