New Rudder

I need a new rudder for my Oday 322. I was told by the boat yard it would take 4 to 5 weeks. Does anyone know of a source that would be more timely, as I hate to see Thanksgiving and Christmas come and go with my boat out of commission.

Check with Rudy Nickerson of D&R Marine. http://www.drmarine.com/ His specialty is O'Day and he's very knowledgeable about them.

Have you thought about making your own rudder? You could save a lot of bucks. One of the guys in my club built a spade rudder for his O'Day 27 by using the old shaft, Foam, Fiberglass Epoxy, a special sewn Fiberglass cloth and the micro-balloon filler. Also, a guy in Russia rebuilt the spade rudder on his O'Day 32 over the winter and it came out great. It's something to think about if you're handy with tools.
