New Rudder? Hunter 31

Folks, A recent survey of a 1985 Hunter 31 I'm considering purchasing indicates some deterioration of the rudder that may require future replacement. Any idea how one goes about finding a rudder for a twent year old boat and what it might cost? Thanks, Potential Hunter Owner

$1000 in Florida.

Greig: Foss Foam in Florida makes these units. They are about $1000 + shipping. I would figure that you would have $1200 plus pulling and splashing the boat. I would think that this is a fairly easy installion. So depending on the yard you may have to pay a yard hand to do this, so you do not occupy thier lift.

right answer, additional comments

the design of the frame and post assembly is known to be weak. ask Al Walker to beef it up a bit and pay the extra price

I had Idea Sailor Marine which makes the rudders that are sold on the HOW site make mine for my Hunter 28.5. It should be a very simular design and I have been very happy with mine. Boat is so well balenced now and tracks very well also. The orginal Foss Foam rudders have ther problems. Cliff
