I am looking for some information on the proper prop size and pitch for my H33. I am considering a three blade propeller. Has anyone gone to a three blade and how does it perform? Any info on costs and shaft size would be helpful.

I would suggest you call Bob Gillian 510-337-9858. I just ordered a prop from him for my H34 with the new designed winglets that he does. I am going from a three blade to a two blade with as good or better performance and less drag.

Though I use a Michigan Wheel 14RH12 on our H33 I've read of others using 14RH10 and 15RH12. Keep in mind, I've repowered the boat. I'm using a 14RH12 on a 21 hp Westerbeke. I'm thrilled by the performance of my prop and pitch but your engine might require a different prop and pitch. The forum archives have a ton of info in there. As for the shaft size, mine is a 1", I belive most others will be a 1" shaft as well in the 33' range.

H33 prop

My H33 with 2QM15 Yanmar has a fixed 3 blade 12RH13. With the throttle wide open in flat water I make between 6.0 and 6.4 kts, engine tops out around 2400-2500 RPM.

Well, just put this one on a .....

short time ago. As a matter of fact, still have not taken her out sailing since getting back in the water after a 61 day haulout. While she was out, we replaced the shaft, trans./shaft coupler, cutless bearing, and the prop. We went with this 3 blade.. 14x10 if my memory serves me, and our old 2 blade was a 14x12. Do not have the knot meter wired yet, but she seem to reach hull speed and engine (2gm15) seemed to top out at 3400 rpms which I believe is desired as per factory specs. Took a pic just before relaunching.
