After recent survey for possible purchase - '84-34 Hunter- Yannmar 3gmf the existing prop has a single blade deflection of 3/8". No visible dings. Should it be refurbished or replaced?

Bent prop

Hello Mr. Minear: Thank you for your letter. It is in my opinion that whenever physical damage has occurred, or is present, to a propeller blade, it should be either fixed or replaced. If the damage is slight, which is what I’m getting from your letter, a repair should easily take care of it. As slight as the damage may appear, it can over time create a multitude of problems. Adverse cutlass wear, coupling wear, motor mount failure and noise being the most likely problems. With an apx 15” diameter propeller the cost of repair should not exceed more then apx. $150.00. (?) If you should have any other questions please feel free to call me. Sincerely, Kevin L. Woody
