BEAUTIFUL

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SETTING TO BE SAILING, WITH THE LUSH GREEN HILL IN THE BACKGROUND, WE HAVE LOTS OF SANDSTONE MOUNTAINS AROUND THE HUDSON, AND LOTS OF BIG HOMES ALONG THE SHORE. I ALSO THINK THIS IS SO GREAT THAT I HAVE FOUND A SELECT FEW OF PEOPLE WHO ALSO LOVE THIS BOAT. I LOVE YOUR RUDDER, LOOKS TO ME KNOW THAT MINE WAS REINFORCED WITH TWO BIG WOOD BULKY WOOD PIECES ON EACH SIDE OF IT, I REALLY HAVE TO HAVE A NEW TILLER MADE, COMPARED TO YOURS ITS WAY TOO LONG AND HIGH, MY HAND FALLS ASLEEP HOLDING IT. WAY TOO WINDY AND ROUGH TO SAIL TODAY, DID SIT ON HER THOUGH FOR A WHILE, THANKS FOR POSTING PIX

Sunshade and shelter

Today I bought a 10'12' tarp(heavy duty plastic). Hiked the aft end of the boom up on the stay, hooked the fore end of the boom to the halyard and hauled 'er up so that I have headroom in the cockpit. draped the tarp over the boom and bungied it to the shrouds and rear cleats and now I have shade and shelter during rain at the dock....pic later.

yikes

just found out I have to tighten my halyard for the genoa really tight or when I roll it up it starts to wind into the forestay and get all messed up, ever happen to you? Went sailing yesterday late afternoon in light wind and something blew in from the south and nearly knocked me over. The river changed in a matter of ten minutes with big chop and gusty wind, had to go downwind and then take sails down quick,,got all wet with splash motoring back to the mooring, can get dangerous out there. Only 2 weeka left for me, Its sad

New oars arrived

yesterday and I rowed about 200yds. My arms wanted to fall off! The oars are the right length(10') but they are too heavy as they are. I'm gonna try counter weighting them as 8 1/2' is hanging outside the oarlock. The package they came in said 19lbs. I think ONE of them weighted that much before I got back to the dock! I was pushing the boat forward with the oars and that meant picking them out of the water for the next stroke with my arms fully extended. Just cut a board to set on and will try rowing backwards(the proper direction?) tomorrow and see if it is any easier. Wonder what our boats weigh?

HOWS YOR WEEKENDER

Hey there , hows your season going, the Minewa is sailing great and at a club this season and everyone there loves her. My e-mail is EETNY88@AOL.COM, easier for me to use. Got the centerboard fixed this spring, she had a big delamination problem going on and couldnt pull her all the way up. Varnished alot of the wood this year also. Let me know how yours is.
