Hi I was recently given a MacGregor 21 on a trailer. She does need some work, but the hull, rigging, mast, etc, look pretty good, especially for the price! How can I tell what year it is? Currently there are no papers, but the previous owner swears he can find them. Thanks! David

I dont know for sure, but maybe by the serial number. On the M25 the serial number is stamped on the stern, the last two digits indicate the year. Good Luck!

Serial Numbers.
My 1972 Venture 21 has no serial number, I guess that hull ID numbers where not required until a later date than my boat was built. I think the HID numbers started in the mid-70's. But I could be wrong (it's happened before). There doesn't appear to be an HID number on the title either... .-=gp=-.

check out bob's site macgregor-boats.com I think the early boats had it 'drilled' in 1" numbers... in some cabin glass, maybe in stern... bulkhead, but I could be wrong. It maybe a venture 21 does it really matter what year it is?

No, it matters very little what year/model it is. either way, it will float and sail thanks! david

David, I too just "rescued" a 1970- V-21. The hull number is the same as the sail number on the Main (if it's the origonal, of course). Also, the number may be "drilled in" to the inside of the bulkhead on the starboard side between the hull and the rudder cable tube. Mine is. Good luck
