Anam Cara Catalina 310 Hull #155 155 Lake Erie/Catawba Island
My Wife and I have just purchased and launched a new to us-one owner-Catalina 310. The 310 is a 2001 Hull #155 that we will sail on Lake Erie. The boat has 130 engine hours and is a freshwater boat. We are excited and look forward to any help we can give others as well as receiving information. We have made a couple of contacts and have received alot of help/information so far including from Bob James. We have owned our 25 for 10 years and belonged to the association and will do the same here. It is a VALUBLE resource. Both My wife and I have owned Catalina 22 and 25. We have raced both boats-including 2nd place C25 tall rig division Catalina Nationals. Both of us are ASA certified- wife has 2 and I have 3 certifications.

Welcome to the forum. Bob is a great resource. We have emailed each other about a possible 310 raft up this summer sometime. Of course all of us 310 owners love our boats, but it would be nice to hear about your decision tree in moving up from a 22/25 to the 310. Does she have all the equipment you need or will you be doing upgrades?

I just moved my 310 from the Chesapeake to Lake Erie last week. I will keep her in Erie, PA, and I plan on participating in the various Battle of Lake Erie bicentennial events throughout the summer.

Hope to see you on the Lake.

Thank you for the welcome!
We started out sailing/racing and raising our kids on the 22, after the kids went to college and left the house, we got a raise!, hence the 25... which is a great boat! Now we want to broaden our cruising range..and comfort- wife saw the V berth with the mattress-That was That!
Now we are on the learning curve!.. Somewhat.

Welcome to Ohio. We seem to have added to Ohio 310 fleet this year. Would love to meet up on the water but no way for us to get from our inland lake to Erie. Hope you have a great summer.

Wow! 130 hours and freshwater at that! Might as well say you bought a new boat! Enjoy!

We just moved her this weekend from the launching marina to our marina!
AFter having the oil,fuel,impeller changed!
Also fueled up and pumped out.. lots still to do BUT did go sailing! 15-20 knot winds out of the east/North east.. Boat sailed awesome until we had to turn east..than had to motor! :(
One thing I did find out was that the throttle handle does not stay where it is supposed to.. it throttles back.. anyone else have that issue and how fixable is it? or how expensive-without going to a bungeee cord!
Thanks again

One solution is to remove the compass and adjust the throttle friction adjuster. Fixed mine in no time.

Mine did the same thing. I used a bungee for a while, but finally adjusted the friction bolt on the pedestal, as gpd955 described. One hint, if you have the pedestal table, make sure you support the weight of the table before you remove the mount bolts for the table, otherwise the bolts will bend (ask me how I know this). While the pedestal is open, you might want to lube the steering chain (30 weight motor oil, I believe).
