Hello everyone, I am happy to be on the site as a new owner instead of just looking. I just purchased a 1980 33' Cherubini after searching for over a year. I have found much info that has been very helpful in making what I believe was a good choice of boats.
I purchased the boat in Hudson Fl about three weeks ago, spent some time getting her ready then set off to ft. laud. What a adventure! Headed south past Tampa then entered the waterway that takes you across fl by way of lake Okechobee to Ft. laud. (six days two overnights).
Problems along the way, you bet. first I discovered that non of the charging systems were working:Alternator, wind or solar. Next I discovered that no one could hear my radio calls and then the rain and crab pots arrived. My trip continued like this all the way home and I loved it!
Now that I am safely home with the boat I would like to ask for advice. When I went over the side to clear the traps from the prop I discovered were the leak had been coming from. the strut that holds the prop shaft was very loose, I could move it about an inch from side to side. I am hauling her out this week and would like to know if any of you have had this problem before and what needs to be done. As for the electrical the boat must have been hit by lightning or just had a bad short. any and all info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, and so far I'm still happy I have her
