Hello everyone, just wanted to say that I am now the proud owner of an 85 Hunter 22. I have some work to do on it, but remain optimistic and happy with the purchase. My issues are with the plumbing and electrical system. If anyone has insight on these particulars please let me know. Thank you

David, wellcome to the community of sailors, I hope you get many years of enjoyment from your boat. Regarding your plumbing and electrical, unless the PO made significant changes, small boats tend to have fairly simple systems. So, could you be more specific about your issues?

I have a 22 and I removed the old wiring. Then installed a new switch panel and ran all new wiring, where is was needed. I installed a forward work light as well as masthead and running lights. I did this because i do use the boat at night a lot and like to have plenty of light when I need it.
The original panel mounted low on the starboard side was a bad idea from the factory.
My outboard motot has a charging coil on it and it does well to keep the battery up and you could use it at night if the battery was low.
I use the boat on overnights and it does well for two people. I keep and use the boat in saltwater so good electrical connections are a must.
The plumbing is simple. I just replaced the potty with a unit from West Marine and it was a bit smaller but used the same hold down mounts. The potty is something that should be operationaly checked PRIOR to your overnight. ( I learned that the hard way)

Hope everyone had a happy Thanks Giving, Thank you all very much for the replies. My first real priority is to take a good hard look at all the thru-hull drains as that is really what is worrying me. As I understand it there are three thru-hull drains, two amidships and one on the transom (underneath) for the cockpit. The two amidships need to be redone but I need to make sure that they are just connected from the deck down through the aft portion of the cabin and out the thru-hull. Is this correct? I also am not sure where the anchor locker drains to…I have downloaded the manual and the plumbing diagrams don’t show anything up forward for the anchor locker. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and Scott I hope to be down around Panama City when the season begins. You will have to give me some pointers for some good overnight and cruising spots in the area.

Dave the anchor locker has a drain in the front at the bottom on the locker. I changed my thru-hull drain for the sink and is the main one on my boat to a bronze one with a ball valve. I felt more secure with that rather than the nylon original one.
As far as sailing here in the 22, Shell Island is well protected and you are still in the bay. Make you have a tide chart for the area.
