New owner with a few questions

Hi all. I am a new owner of a 1986 oday 28, and I have a couple of quick questions. How can I determine what type diesel motor I have, m12 or m2-12? also, Where is a good place to buy parts for these motors? Thanks in advance.
also, I have an edson pedistal wheel, with dual controls. These are the original plastic handles, so they are weak and won't last long. Is it possible to get some plastic replacement handles, or do I have to suck it up and pay the money for the stainless?

I have an 84 ODay 28 with a Universal M-15. I'm not with the boat right now, but I think the engine model is stamped on the oil dipstick. Universals are marinized (is that a word?) Kubota engines. Mine is stamped 5411, which is the Universal M-15.
You can get just about any part at www.marinedieseldirect.com If yours is stamped other than 5411, I think you can get the Universal model number from that site.
My controls have always felt weak, but are still intact. I'd guess you could get them through Edson.
