Hello all- As a kid I grew up spending weekends on my folks' 23 oday. Now I have my own 22ft. I need to find a replacement bow hatch and am not sure where to begin. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Save your $$$$

Everyone is going to say Rudy at www.drmarine.com but his prices seem to be a bit high seeing that he is the only supplier of new Oday parts. Sometimes you eat the bar, and well, sometimes, it eats you. Goodluck. David O'Neill The Royal We 1979 Oday 22

O'day Replacement Parts

The best place to start when looking for replacement parts for an O'day is D&R Marine. My experience is that it's most effective to reach them by phone - 508 644-3001

26 ft oday

IN RESPONSE TO dAVID , I got the forward hatch from rudy for my 26 2 years ago and all I can say is that it went right in with no cuts and some new screws [s/s of course] along with caulk and has never leaked yet.Look on the net you may get what you need just hope it fits like a glove

DO NOT EMAIL RUDY

I agree with David. This place has the O'Day parts market wrapped up. I guess this is why they don't bother returning emails. I've never had them return mine. Because of this and the high cost, I look else where first. I Don't like to beg someone to take my cash!

HA HA

I've been checking out the D&R Clearance Section for two years now. I have never seen one thing on clearance. Never! Be prepared to have your pockets picked.

Picking Pockets

I take issue with the "picked pockets" post. Rudy is an honest businessman. His prices are posted on his web site. If that's not good enough, he'll be more than happy to quote them to you on the phone. Sure, some of the stuff you can find cheaper elsewhere, but a lot of the stuff you can't find anywhere. He won't be cheap because he doesn't sell in quantity. That's what happens when you sell to a small market. If someone doesn't like the prices, they are more than free to shop elsewhere. But, to accuse him of "picking pockets" is a cheap shot. You owe him an apology. As far as the "not answering emails," Rudy's web site was set up by an O'Day owner that's a "fan". I think he (Rudy) is probably only vaguely aware that it's there. Granted, it's not the best business practice, but it's just the way he is. If/when you DO buy something, you'll be happy with the service and the product.

Go Rudy, he Rocks!

My experience with Rudy was that I had ordered a part for the boom on my Oday 22. He called me to make sure we were talking the right part before it was shipped. As to the price, hey, we were both happy, win-win in my book. Jack Hart, Hickory, NC

rudy rocks

I agree with Jack, Rudy rocks and definitely call for fast reliable service. We all have boats that were manufactured a minumum of 20 years ago and to speak with someone who was there when is truly rewarding. He is very helpful.

Sorry

Of course, we all have a choice in where we spend our cash and this can be an expensive hobby. I don't mean any personal attack on Rudy - I don't know him. The issue remains however, he has the market tied up. It's cool he worked for the company when it was in operation twenty plus years ago. Back to 2006. Being only "vaguely" aware you have an internet store seems like a poor excuse. The internet is here to stay. If Rudy is unwilling, unable or just not interested in being an internet merchant then please, have someone do this for you or shut it down.

Just my say

I guess Arnold is not a happy camper (boater) well like the song said you can’t please everyone you got to please yourself. I think Rudy must be very please with himself and that is why he stays doing business the way he has always and this is still America and he has a right to conduct business the way he feels. He actually fulfills a gap that other businesses chose not to so we are lucky to have him.

(as said) Rudy Rocks!!

There are alot of folks like myself that won't buy off the internet. It is nice to look at his page, but when it comes time to buy, just give him a call. One time I really needed him was last year when my main sail got "shredded" on first day of vacation on my O23. I jumped in the car, Rudy stayed 3 hours late on Saturday so my vacation would not be ruined. How many others would do that? Did it cost me maybe $25 more, maybe, but I had it, I supported someone that is great to have, and will not even look to another place when I need something else (with spring coming, that will be plentiful, since I just bought a O22 to fix then sell)! Rock on Rudy and thanks for everything!!
