Have read a couple post recently, not to mention mine, where someone got pounded pretty good by the wind, many times not in the forecast. I have a sure fire cure for getting into high winds in this area. Simply give me a shout. If I'm going to be sailing, stay home, it's going to get nasty. If I'm not sailing, go on out, cause the weather will be just about perfect.

Was going to take my grandson sailing today but canceled last night after having 36 hours of 20-25 knot winds with gusts up to 35 knot. This morning there did not seem to be much wind and the Sailflow forecast had changed to 7.5 to 12.5 knots so I called him and asked him to get ready. It was a little cool at 60 degrees and the wind was around 8 knots when we took off around 12:00 PM. We got out there and the wind died. We ate our Subway sandwiches with thye sails just flapping and then decided to go hunting for wind. We found some around mid Bay but did not last long but I thought for sure we would catch the onshore breeze on the way back. Wrong again but we did not have to motor and we were doing around 4 knots. My grandson enjoyed steering the boat all the way and I have to say he makes a good autopilot. He also enjoyed TV and AC back at the dock while I buttoned the boat up. Who gets this weather?

Obviously you didn't go out yesterday (Saturday)... perfect sailing weather!

Obviously Not

Perfect sailing weather, obviously I wasn't out. In Dallas visiting family for the Easter Holiday. Fair warning though, will be back next weekend, and probably wanting to go sailing, so weather will be snotty.

Saturday was crazy. We left Mandeville for Slidell at 6:30. Winds North 10-15. Two Against the Lake Race set to start at 10:00. 16 miles. Wind died at 9:55. All day long wind changed and never got above 5. Most of the time 0-2. BTW. Weather forecasted to be 10-15 from East. Go figure. BTW we got 3rd non-spin. Just second race on my boat. Sorry couldn't help myself. Just had to tell someone.

Also alot of credit to Don's sail trim chart and guide. Whoo hoo for sailing in extremely light air.
