Hello, I just painted the bottom of my boat and noticed how bad my swing keel is. The area around the pivot shaft has worn to a much larger hole. The stopper screw has worn a groove and won't unscrew. Large chunks of iron are gone. I covered it with epxoy resin and filled in all divets, but the pivot hole looks a bit bigger than epoxy might fix. I think it would be easier to just get a decent replacement keel. At any rate I am looking for a decent swing keel. NOTE: I did find someone who has two c25 keels available. One looks new! Thanks,

Pivot pin sleave...

Hi, I believe some friends ended up having to buy a new pin plus inserting a sleave in the keel since the hole was so worn out. I think they just epoxied the sleave in place. I eneded up sand blasting my keel and refairing also. Luckily my hole and pin were still like new...

Pivot Pin

All, I rebuilt my Keel 2 years ago. New SS bushing and the Catalina Direct parts (bronze hangers, brass pin and clunck pads). My mooring is in shallow waters and I raise/lower the keel every time we go out. this year when I hauled out, I noticed quite a bit of sway in the keel that was not there after I rebuilt. I will have to lower the keel to inspect the pin/hole but I suspect that the brass pin has worn. Does anyone have any thoughts on replacing the brass pin with a stainlee steel pin? Thanks
