It has been suggested to me to add years of life to my present sail inventory to have them cleaned and reimpregnated. Does anyone know where to have this done, thanks

Sailcare A++++

I sent my sails to sailcare and had the Lemauney process done, they take all of the resin out of your sails when they clean them an reresonate them. Mine had rust colored stains and just a few spots that needed repairs. they restiched my sunbrella fabric on my roller furling and a new clew, and some other small stuff, total cost was around 860.00 freight and all. When I was putting them on people thought I had bought new sails they looked so good. Tim Welsh Hunter 34 Lake Ouachita Ar AKA (CABO WABO)

Sail Care... Another Opinion

howdy, I have heard great things about sailcare. Infact I had a friend with a 1986 hunter 28.5 send his sails to them and they came back looking Beutiful. One problem tho....putting the resin back does not cure blown out sails!!! I seriously looked at them and discussed this with my local sailmaker (sorry it wasn't Doyle, thanks for your time!) who advised me that the questionable part of re-resining is that not only is the old sail shape questionable, but what about the shape of the cloth itself after all those years...I chose to replace with a full batten main, built to a larger size than my original with the cost at a little less than double that of one of the previous respondee's cost to re-resin his main. My boats performance increased substainally, I feel the replacement was a better choice than a rebuild, so to speak. MY advice is to "choose wisely".... now what movie is that from... other than most decisions in life. Sail on!!!! Gene

that was total cost for both of my sails

860 was the total cost for both of my sails. they were not blown out either. my boat did alot of setting before I bought it. Tim Welsh P.S. When I got them back I made sure to fold them on my boom real carefully and the dutchman system I have brings them down almost perfect every time. It is also a full batten main

Clean?

A North Sail rep spoke at a yacht club neeting and said that he did not recommend cleaning a sail with anything but a fresh water rinse unless you were preparing to sell the boat and were not concerned about longevity. ???

swimming pool

a swimming pool soak overnight is an easy way to clean sails. for fun, you can get into the pool with a brush and do a great job. not everyone has a pool. i used one at an apartment complex. there was a complaint so i agreed not to do it again (but by then, the sails were very clean and ready for a few more years.
