When we were lookinmg to buy an Irwin 34 we were researching new power options as the exisitng engine was seized. Altough rebuilt engines are half the price and can be a great value if rebuilt properly. The Universal Marine diesel was an excellent buy new as well. Ge onto the website for Universal/Westebeke and find the closest outlest for new engine sales. They do seem to be reasonable in price and negotiation. I think if you just do your homework on both rebuilds and what savings you can get factory direct, the money is more in the R&R process headache then anything else, Bob
