So many are saying to pass on the boat and that are other boats at that price that are sound and ready to sail but I haven't seen anything written yet on the condition of this boat other than the depressions in the hull by the bunks. Who knows? This boat might be in good condition. What's the sail inventory like? Condition of the rig and rigging? Bulkhead replacement? No big deal. Leaks? Just do some caulking. Nobody should buy any used boat of unknown history without going over the whole boat afterwards and recaulk and check and recheck before sailing. Doing some repair work is always good for the soul and peace of mind knowing that there shouldn't be any surprises while underway. Plus getting some experience on maintenance and repair. Owning a boat is not just about being on the water as anyone who owns an old boat quickly learns.
$1500 list for a boat in OK condition with a trailer doesn't sound all that bad. Is there an Outboard? Is in good shape? Even without an OB that's not bad. You won't know until you see it and if you like it make a counter offer. Trailers can be modified.
NM? There probably aren't a whole lot of sailboats to chose from anyhow. That's another consideration. And if there's not much wet rainy weather there might not be relatively that much water intrusion in the deck coring.
A fresh water boat is a BIG plus.

the current owner says that the sails are in the garage, as is the motor. Since nothing has been done to either in +/- 10 years their conditions are suspect. I want to go do a good look-over before I commit to anything. Looking at the deck fittings, etc. The stanchions are off the boat but she has them. I did a quick walk... err crouch thru the cabin and didn't see much in the way of damage. some water spots on the cushions etc but no sign of puddling. I have asked some of the people I have met on line that are sailers around here if they would go and look the boat over, so I will have some experienced opinions as to the conditions soon.
