New North sails

Has anyone received a recent quote on North racing mailsail. I have a Hunter 23. The quotes I've recieved from North are crazy. In 2003 I bought a 3DL headsail for my Pearson 28. It cost $2350 for a 318 sq ft sail. For a Hunter 23 mainsail the quotes ran from $2310. to $2755. I received a message from a Hunter 23 owner in the Annapolis area with a North quote at $1600. I lost his email. Maybe that loft will make 2.

Have you checked out the SBO site for sale prices. A basic sail for a H'23 is a little over $900. You can add a lot of extras and you will never get to $2300 or even $1600!

Just wondering if you think that the North sail is worth 2x as much?

Hi Steve,
The sails at SBO are crosscut standard sails. I require a bi or tri-radial sail. As to Norths pricing there is an old saying, " speed costs money. How fast do you want to go." IMHO North is king of the hill for racing sails. Currently there is a promo from North that puts the price at about $1320 for a racing mainsail. That sounded OK.

You may want to check with SBO. They can make other sails other than their std advertised ones too.

Call Dave and ask him. I haven't heard any complaints about delivery times.
