Upon reflection - Good Value
John:Upon reflection, my original reply was misleading. For many (most?) the bridle plate system is probably VERY GOOD VALUE, as described & priced. http://www.colligoengineering.com/newpage11.htmFor MYSELF (personal use) , I’d pay about $100, though I don’t dispute it’s value (at $160), to those w/out access to scrap sheet steel, wholesale hardware, and the inclination (& tools & skill) to DIY. Based upon $10-$20 for the plate, plus the value of the included hardware.$20 + (2 x $10) + $50* = $90 ($100 for Multi-hull version - a better value) vs $159.95*** I don’t much like “look” of this swivel, though 3/4" S/S Swivels are certainly selling for well over $100. I presume the swivel is rated over 7000# WLL in-line. I’m less concerned about it’s angular strength (than usual /w swivels) as this assembly doesn’t appear to be susceptible to that undesirable eventuality.** There’s no indication of the cost of “shipping & handling”, if any. You’ll note that I haven’t charged the value of my labour (perhaps $50) into my DIY cost - so I’d NOT be offering it to my customers at anything less than the $160 retail price (in fact, I’d probably ask more like $200).My original reply should have said something to the effect that the “Bridle Plate MooringSystem” appears to be an elegant solution, offered at a reasonably fair price (though I think I’ll build my own). Thanks for cutting through the crap, and asking the operative question.Respectfully,Gord
