I am a lucky Mirage owner for a week now. I bought her in New York, and sailed back home in only 24 hours. A nice beam reach all the way to Block Island, and then with a SW 20 mh breeze made it up Narragansset bay with top speeds of 10.5 knots!! with spinnaker riding some waves. This boat sails like a dinghy but with the comforts of a bigger boat. I am very happy to have bought her, but there is only one problem. The beam support under the mast is crack. I am wondering if that is just cosmetic showing through the fiberglass only. Are there any fleets on the N.E.? Thank you, Daniel.

Congrat's

Hey Daniel Just thought I'd say congrat's on your purchase - Looks like a nice boat. 10.5 knots sounds pretty good too! Enjoy, they are a really nice handling boat.

Cracked Bulkhead

Hello I to am the new owner of an old Mirage 24 I am curious if you have found out any information regarding the cracks as my boat suffers the same. The keel indicates no sign of being grounded and there are no cracke above on deck. i am puzzled and wonder what causes this Ihave tried to find anything on the internet about this and you are the only person or information I have found. If I find anything I will notify you.

Cheers

Chris

Crack bulkhead

The crack was cosmetic. There wasn't any damage to the beam. I reinforced it with two layers of half inch hardwood and laminated with west system mix with 404 filler.
I already sailed in 30 knot winds with no stress marks.
Good luck and happy sailing!

Daniel
