I unfortunately have had my original mainsail stolen and am going to need to replace it. I am looking for suggestions as to where to go. Can I get a replacement from D&R Marine that will be the same as the originial in terms of appearance and specs? Should I try other places? Does the new main come with all the appropriate hardware to fit it to my mast and boom (slugs etc.). I was basically very happy with the sail I had before it was stolen and want to find as close to the original as possible for a replacement. Also, how much money should I expect to spend? Thanks!

Questions

Is there a phone number for the chandelry in order to ask more questions about the Doyle sails? Or is there an email address? I am wondering if the sail comes with all of the mast slugs already attached. And I'll probably think of some other questions too. Thanks!

D&R - New Mainsail for Oday 26

I bought a new mainsail for my Oday 26 from Rudy at D&R last year to replace my original 1984 mainsail. It was made by Neil Pryde (same as the original) and came with all slugs, etc. needed as well as the "O" for Oday. Didn't have to do any measurements since Rudy and/or Neil Pryde had the specs.

D and R Marine

HI Jonathan, I needed to replace my (original) jib on my 26. I checked a number of sailmakers, but, for a small fee, went with Rudy and D and R. He knew all the specs and I liked the idea of having a Neil Pryde replacement. Sorry to hear about the theft...I thought stuff like that only happened in SOUTHERN CA. Best regards and good sailing in SLO, Louise

Sailrite Is Another Option

I have a 1985 O'Day 26, didn't have it stolen, but it was just old and blown out. Checked with a couple of sail lofts and the average price for a Full Batten, Single Reef Main Sail was $1200. I took a chance and ordered the kit from sailrite, everything was precut, and all the pieces were packaged seperatly. I used my wife's sewing machine, which is an older one, and spent the next three weeks putting it together. Not only do I have a very good understanding of how a sail is put together, I have a great sail that only cost $600. Ben Allen Montgomery, AL "Latte Dah" O'Day 26

Corresponding number????

I bought a 26 O'day this year, and was wondering what the number on the sail meant, I have an original main sail, so I was just curious to what it means.

oday 26 main

You might try Strictly Sail near Cincinnati, Ohio. They had a North cruising main with 2 years lean usage for sale (it was my sail befor I bought a special racing sail). Phone 513 984 1907. Ask for Bob Smith.
