New Main

I tried the search function under "new main" but got everything but information about a New Main. Anyway, What suggestions do you have for sailcloth weight for dacron. I only do inland cruising in Oklahoma. Specifically at Lake Hefner (nice sailing lake) so I don't need a high performance Main. What else would you recommend?
I contacted a couple of sail lofts and got some quotes anywhere from 595.00 for 5 oz. to 795.00 (didn't specify the weight). i have also looked into some used sails.

Go mid priced. You don't need high end. Low end you get what you paid for.

I think the 5.5 oz main would be perfect. Next time try googling "Hunter 23 mainsail"

The price is okay... the main issue is getting the correct size luff sliders and how you want the foot configured. Your quote is probably for a "loose foot" and that is what most people prefer these days instead of paying extra for a "shelf" to be sewn in. Don't get a rope foot.

Finally, if you want an insignia, sail numbers, trim stripes or a couple of full battens at the top .... include that in your quote request. Oh yeah, a second reef is nice if you sail where conditions change rapidly. All this stuff can jack the price up pretty quick so make sure know what's in the quote package.
