1. How much to pay dealer for a new 05 MacGregor without any options? I know that MSRP is 18,900, have you paid 15 or 16 K for your new boat? I have purchased new cars thousands below MSRP because I knew dealer invoice but don’t have much info about boats. And I do not buy into paying MSRP because dealer need to be supported to provide good service. 2. Are fall boat shows a good place to get a good price on a new MacGregor?

This is not car buying

I agree with the way you aproach auto sales. However this is way different. Your dealer is not getting rich off these boats. They make their money off of set up. If you want to haggle go buy a car. The MSRP is without Motor and any options and is the minimum you will pay if you want a boat without any options (NO MOTOR,toilet, stove, furling, sail ocvers, bimini, dodger seat back cushions, cockpit cushions, trailor brakes, stern rail seats, shore power, mast raising kit etc...). I paid $32,000 for an M with 70 hp Suzuki motor ($7,500) and almost every option including stern rail seats and shore power. I would not trust anyone other than a Mac dealer to rig my boat. The macs are a different breed and require unique set up. BTW does your state require brakes? Not included in $18,900 price. Looks like a used X with a 25hp engine is what is in your budget. Even then you will pay $18,000+. Good Luck!

e-mail severaal dealers in your area and be ready to travel out of state for delivery...that is how I saved over 2000 last year on my new MG26 in basic config.

Check out eBay motors..sailboats..there is a dealer on there that has listed 2005 M's for $15,000...`course that's bare boat price (1 sail). However, he will add any options before delivery.

2005 MacGregor 26M on eBay

I check the eBay listings about once a week. To the best of my knowledge, neither a 2005 MacGregor 26M, nor any new 26M has never been sold on eBay. There was a listing for a "MacGregor 26 M sailboat 2001", for $15,000, on 9,3,04. The only MacGregor boat being made at that time was the MacGregor 26X. The picture is of a 26X. It is not a 26M. It received one bid, but the Reserve Price was not met. It did not sell. The dealer listing that boat does list a 26M, with some regularity. My recollection is his opening bid price was about $18,900, with a higher Reserve Price, never received even 1 bid, and not sold. This can be verified because the lister has sold a grand total of one (1) item on eBay, on 10,26,03. Again, the MacGregor 26M was not even being made at that time. However, maybe Steve is a psychic. The reason I monitor the eBay listings, is I am a MacGregor dealer, BOATS 4 SAIL, in Wisconsin. I plan on listing a 26M on eBay if I ever get some in that are not already sold. I hadn't decided on an opening bid price, but thanks to Steve, it will be $15,000; No Reserve Price; MacGregor Factory Options discounted 20%. If you would rather just buy one at a very good price, go to the Classifieds on this site.

26M on eBay

Damn - another psychic. Whenever I did a search on eBay, I simply typed in "MacGregor 26". As I said previously, "To the best of my knowledge, neither a 2005 MacGregor 26M, nor any new 26M has ever been sold on eBay." So, this time, I tried "MacGregor26", "MacGregor Havencraft", "Havencraft MacGregor", "MacGregor 26X", "MacGregor 26 X", "MacGregor 26 M)", "MacGregor 26M", I checked by price ($15,000), I did this in "Boats) and "All categories". I did an "Advance search" and "Refine search". I did not find a MacGregor 26M listed. Can you post a link to it, or do you have the listing number?

Gone now

Its not posted anymore. If you are really interested call Havencraft. Not sure how they were doing $15,000.00 "brand new never in water". Seems to me that 15K is what your dealer cost has to be.

wondered the same thing about price

I am in market for an M as well, contact me direct, perhaps we can get a two boat discount. Lets talk. I think due to the new hull shape it would perform better in the choppy waves found in charlotte harbor in fl. as well as the great lakes here in Mi. I also can get hondas at a better price, which I found better not to talk about on a forum. bradraby@earthlink.net BRAD
