Looks like fun. “Planing with no loads on anything” must be a pretty cool sensation.

Crazy cool. On lots of boats the run-up to getting on plane is hair-raising, here you don't even notice the transition. You can see in the vid as the wind speed goes up and down a knot or two, so does the boat speed. up on a plane, off, back up.

Interesting at 5 knots boat speed and a bit of heel, no plane. Flatten the boat our and it planes, and the speed jumps up a couple of 10ths.

Well without much drama, the boat is up in Minnesota! New graphics on and just about ready to race! 1 million little things I had to do, but that’s typical for sorting out a new boat.

Looks good. No bird name for this one?
Ha!

No, but I did give it some serious thought! I've always liked the notion of 'BlackJack' for a boat name, its punchy and also easy to say on the VHF three times. And the U20 is really 21 feet long; that was the deal clincher. One of the crew members is a graphics designer, so she whipped up the logos. Shirts next!

That looks like so much fun.
I bet you are going to be the first of us with a foiling boat, too. Then, I'll be camped out on your doorstep until you let me sail her, just once. Since nobody would want me camping out on their doorstep for long, I'll be able to finish my bucket list, PDQ!

Jack, I’m new to the forum and trying to catch up. Guessing your 36.7 is at Apostoe Islands, on Madeline or at Bayfield - and your 260 and new U-20 are both in Lake Minnetonk, at Wayzata?

(I used to live in Mpls, and sailEd around Bayfield decades ago. Now live near Corpus Christi and recently got a boat to sail on the bay. Passed through San Antonio on way down but haven’t been to Canyon Lake. Will be west of SA next week to ride around hill country.)

That pretty much the deal. But the 367 is gone. Lots of sailing friends in CC. Might be doing the j22 worlds there this summer!

After a week of prep, yesterday the boat was mostly ready for a real sail at WYC. Only sheetbags left on the list. Sadly the breeze did not cooperate, with fitful puffs coming from all directions on a mostly glassy lake. The ChartedSails track tells the story of our search for breeze.

But @cb32863 and I managed to ride a 7 knot puff down with the asym up, basically matching the speed of the wind on a reach. To Journey.
