My question is what would you sail with for club races, a new jib or an old Genoa. The races are usually too short to switch sails on the downward leg of the race, so I usually finish the race with the same sails I started with. My boat is a 1981 C22 with the original sails, except for the jib. A new main is at the top of my list, but it will just have to wait for a little while longer. Any suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Greg

if it is a furling head sail, you can have a foam luff sewn in so it will have good shape when furled (reefed), if it is a hanked on sail, a sail maker can add a reef point a few feet from the tack. i have used this on other racing boats. you just run a new sheet to reef clew before you lower or release the genoa, then pull down the new tack down with a pre attached line. it is real quick and simple. the unused part of the sail can be tied, or just left on deck (depending on point of sail)
