Well, I'd have to admit that it isn't an idyllic destination for cruisers, but don't you think you are over-stating the case? There are some notable destinations in and near New Jersey, from NYC and the Hudson River to Cape May. From New Jersey, there is excellent access to every location on the east coast and beyond. In that respect, it is no different than Newport or Annapolis. In fact, people from New Jersey tend to make the world a very small place. I've never gone anywhere without running into other people from New Jersey. We are among the most active, adventurous and well-travelled people on Earth. We participate and excel in any sport or activity that you might consider, bar none. Sterling Heyden is from New Jersey and so is Tania Aebi! I'd bet there are several other notables in the world of sailing from New Jersey. We are present everywhere and anywhere in the world! A few years ago, my daughter was on a "slow boat" tour on the Mekong River in Laos and when she disembarked in a tiny rural village in the middle of the jungle, who did she happen to come across, totally by chance? Another high school friend from New Jersey!
Every where Sue and I travel, we seem to run across folks whom speak longingly about Hot Dog Johnny's (15 minutes from our home). This little hot dog stand in the hinterlands of New Jersey is known and loved around the world!
