I just took delivery of my new Hunter 25. Its a great boat but I do have a few issues or questions about. The compass light does not work, it appears to be connected. How is the light wired, is it turned on with the running lights, steaming light, or with the accesories. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you very much in advance

On with running lights for sure

The compass light should come on with the running lights. It has a wire that feeds down the pedestal to the panel over the rear bunk.

OR the instrument lights

The easy way is to try the easy quick stuff first. You could get lucky right. Have a helper flip trough all the switches. If you get it to light then "problem solved", mark the switch so the next owner or your brother-in-law can benefit. If the lamp does not light then take the light off the compass and see if it is burned out. If so the 'problem solved". replace the bulb. If the bulb is good then test for a ground circuit on the lamp socket. Attach a jumper wire to the negative terminal of the battery and the ground (black) test lead on your multi-meter. Use the other test lead to see if there is a ground circuit on one of the socket terminals. It should be the black wire. If there is, test for battery voltage on the other socket terminal. You will have to have your helper flipping switches for this and switch the multi-meter from ohms to volts. If no ground circuit or battery voltage circuit can be found then you have to start tracing the wires to find the break or most likely the rusted connector. There is a procedure for this but it is too hard to put in writting. Suffice it to say keep saying the following throughout the whole process, "OK I'm a smart guy"
