For what it's worth
I own a 1994 Hunter 26, very similar to the Hunter 260 and a fair bit lighter than the new Hunter 25.I tow it about twice a year with a Jeep Liberty, about 250 miles from my home to my slip. The Jeep is rated to tow 5000 lb. and I believe the boat is about 4500 with the trailer and whatever junk is placed in the boat or the Jeep on top of that.Towing is a bit of a chore, and the boat is not towed over 60 mph, or it tends to sway. and then it gets scary.that said, up to about 59 mph the Jeep may work hard, but it tows the boat quite well.I have to believe the new 25 is closer to 5500 on the trailer, so the tow vehicle would work harder. The 4 runner probably would be OK if you are gentle with it, but probably would burn up quickly if you try to keep up with 70 mph traffic. I have seen that some people believe that a vehicle rated for 5000 lb should be able to go 90 mph up the side of a montain with 5000 behind it, and others believe that if they can reasonably get their 5000 lb load to their destination at a lower speed they are happy.Which catagory do you fall into?
