Greetings- Allow me to introduce myself as a new Pearson owner. I have written my list of projects and will surely be looking to your collective experience for advice as the winter goes on. Top of the list is to replace the holding tank. I have a 15 Gallon bladder in the Starboard Side Settee, which provides the boat the boat with a pleasant odor. I am not positive it is the tank vice one of the hoses but am replacing all components. I am inclined purchase a hard tank but do not see how I can make a 15-gallon tank work in such a tight place/lay flat. This means I would have to move the holding tank back and shift the water bladder to another spot, perhaps the port side Settee? Or forward under the V-berth? Are there tanks made which operate on a slight cant? Any suggestions/dimensions of tanks used details of how you addressed a similar issue would be much appreciated. Scott

If the head is forward...

The v-berth is the best place for the holding tank...you find quite a bit of information about tank installation if you search Head Mistress forum archives. Ronco Plastics http://www.ronco-plastics.com is your best source for a tank...they make TOP quality thick-walled PE water and waste tanks for a very reasonable price and have more than 400 shapes and sizes, over 100 of which are non-rectangular. And they install fittings in the locations and sizes specified by the customer when they make the tank. I think you'll find the link below useful in spec'ing out your system...and I'm always glad to help too.

If you possess the "three C's

competency, creativity and capability then you can build a tank to fit any shape space. I was able to fit my holding tank into the bilge by building to fit.

Welcome Scott

Scott, Welcome aboard - I'm a very new 303 owner myself. The PO of my boat put a nice sized holding tank under the v-berth. It's high up and allows for a very straight and short vent run (both of which are a good thing.) If you have other projects you've done, let us know about them as I love reading what people do with their boats. That and the fact that my boat is shrink wrapped for the winter, so I need to live vicariously through you southern folk until April! Dave Crowley s/v Wind Dreamer II

Same boat as me

Hi Scott... I guess we are in the same boat and have the same problem. I'll be reading your posts. Let me know what you are going to do. I will need the same parts and pieces. Richard

How far will the sucker machine suck?

Head Mistress, thanks for the productive reply. The website is a big help! I have a follow up question: How many feet can the holding tank be from the deck level access port? My concerns are two fold 1) given I put the holding tank under the V-berth then I will have to change direction my comode pumps 2) will the originall waste pump out location be able to reach another 5-8 feet? Are there specs available? Richard- Thanks for the reply. I will be in touch if I find an answer from another source. Scott
