Hi, I need some info from V32 owners. I had a H 33.5 that I sailed and lived aboard a few years in the early 90s. It was a great cruiser/livaboard. I'm trying to compare the issues I had at anchor. My 33.5 was blown around, sailing and heeling at anchor alot in storms unless 3 point anchoring was used, I suspect due to such a tall rig on a 33 and alot of freeboard, so I'm wondering if the V32 would be better or worse? Another was the stern slapping when waves bounced back from a seawall (sometimes 100s of feet away) causing the stern to pancake down very hard.
#3 the anchor lines caught on the wing keel during current swings, I don't see that being any different on a V32 but if anyone has a remedy I'll listen. I know 3 anchor line sentinals might help, but after the gust the sentinals drop down and the boat makes headway then the bow is blown off on the next gust. It seems more ground tackle to clean, stow and deploy on every move. I allways used 3 point anchoring which kept the boat stable and in one place... as long as you adj. slack when wind direction changed. Never liked sailing around the anchorages on the hook.:)

You probably will get better info from the right coast guys who anchor a lot more than us SoCal folks. I suspect the V32 will be just like the 33.5. In fact, I often thought they shared the same keel & rudder. Yes, there is wave slap. Yes, it will sail at anchor altho a bridle will help. The few times I anchored in Catalina for extended periods, I used a three-point (in areas where people were using bow and stern anchors).

I owned a Vision 32 for five years. Enjoyed the design and livability of the boat, especially the sugar scoop stern. I anchored a lot with a Bruce anchor and thirty feet of chain. Never had a problem with it catching the keel. Had some stern slap but it never bothered us--perhaps anchoring in a cove, the waves were less in height. I don't remember sailing at anchor--don't think we ever did much of it and if we did, it didn't bother us. But we also had an Avon dinghy tied to the stern sideways--maybe that helped.
