My 81 27' Hunter is in need of having the hatches replaced.. all the latches are old and brittle.. most of them have broken away making it hard to secure them.. the only hatch replacement I've seen requires retrofitting hatch opening to accept new hatches... any suggestions? Jacques

Forward trapezoidal hatch

is a Bomar 2092. They are available from Pompanette.com. There is a good photo essay on the replacement at the page for our 27_75-84's. You want to do some work on the hole to ensure a tight fit of the new hatch in any case. Our replacement was very straightforward. Our '77 model does not have the second hatch, so I'm not sure which model fits there. Pompanette could talk you through measuring the old hatch if you don't get more advice here. David Lady Lillie

I got disgusted...

with the stock hatches. I have bought my kids toys made of higher quality plastics than what is supplied on my 83 H-27. Every hatch and port is crazed, brittle and broken. I am in the process of replacing the hatches with 1/2" plexiglass, using all stainless hinges, hatch adjusters and dogs. Decent quality hatches and ports cost so much, I'm figuring I can fabricate at 1/4 of the cost, and still beat the strength of 'blue-water' retail replacements. The Bomar catalog had the exact match for both the trapezoidal and the salon square hatch though...thats where I fugured out I was shopping for junk to replace junk! As a temp, I'm using a fiberglass hatch that is military surplus...no light though. But it is sturdy! Islandjack
