New H 23.5

Well after a 10 year sailing hiatus, we decided to get a sailboat again. after scouring the internet we found a hunter 23.5 which is 8 hours away, but we are going to get it this Friday and we can't wait. The boat was brought up from AZ to British Columbia , and we are taking it home to Alberta.

Our last boat was a Sanjuan 26 which was a big heavy boat for our smaller lakes, to trailer that one around was nearly impossible.
Now with this new little hunter we can go to all the lakes that are 20 min from our home, which is going to be great.

Hope I can learn and get all the info I need from the Hunter group.

We owned a h23.5 for a while and loved it. Spent many a weekend anchored out until she got hit by lightening. Just the right size to trailer and comfortable enough to spend a few nights at anchor. Good luck with your new purchase. Enjoy Chris

DRIVE THE BOAT AROUND AND CHECK THE WELL HUBS FOR HEAT. IF VERY HOT, YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH THE BEARINGS. cHECK FOR DRY ROT ON TIRES AND IF THERE IS ANY, REPLACE THEM AND DO GET A SPARE. CARRY A TIE DOWN STRAP TO GO OVER THE COCKPIT AND TWIST THE LINE OVER THE SIDES TO KEEP THE STRAP FROM SLAPPING. GO ABOUT 20 MILES AND RECHECK TIE DOWNS AND HUBS AGAIN. ALSO CARRY A TIRE GAUAGE AND CHECK AIR PRESSURE COLD AND FILL TO SPECS IF NEEDED. TIE THE TRAILER WINCH HANDLE AS WELL. CARRY A GREASE GUN AS WELL FOR YOUR TRIP.

Ok... Since I need more things to worry about.... How did a lightening strike end boat ownership for you? Spare nothing, I can take it.
