New guy on the block. Just bought a 23. Tried to raise the mast, I think the mast step is missing? Where can I get one?

By mast step, do you mean the block of aluminum on the cabin top that the mast sits on? I would think you would have a very noticeable hole in your cabin if that was missing? I'd recommend taking it to a Hunter dealer for repairs if the mast step is missing.

h20bob, welcome to the h23 and to this forum. Check for the type of mast you have (three different makes were used as original equipment on the h23) and then go to the manufacture's site to see what it looks like. Among the basic designs: an aluminum block the mast fits over, and variations on a plate with sides that a bolt goes through to provide a pivot for the mast base and pin it to the tabernacle.
Make sure to get help in raising the mast and tuning the rigging the first time. Its not terribly difficult, but knowledge and experience makes it easier. Good luck and have fun.

I'd seriously doubt that anyone buy a boat without knowing whether or not the mast step was missing. You'd notice a lack of equipment. If it didn't have one I hope you got it for a song! Post a pic of the deck just fore of your cabin entryway. Between the sliding roof and the V-berth hatch. I just raised my mast today for the first time. It went fairly well (Lake Hefner has a mast boom that can be used). but would not have been fun without it
