GPS mounting

You can buy a little bracket, I think Edson makes them, that fits on the pedestal and is made for this purpose. As for the electrical, some drill a hole in the pedestal, and run the wiring through the tubing and under the cockpit. If you have an external antenna, you can't do this without cutting the antenna plug off and rewiring it. On my boat, I drilled a hole in the cockpit floor large enough to get the plug through, ran the wires through the hole. Then caulked them up really good, and installed a clamshell vent cover over this. Works good and is water tight.

Easy

I am not familiar with your pedistal but on my 31' I pulled the compass off and fished a wire down the pedistal and routed it to a power source. You connect the red wire to a fused + side of your source (battery or terminal) and the black to the - side of your power source. I drilled an appropriate size hole in the pedistal to route the wire through and caulked it after installation. You will have to purchase the adapter cord from Garmin or one of the suppliers that offer Garmin products. Also, depending on how/where you want to mount you may have to purchase a mount from them as well.

Check as to the manufactur of your pedestal. Depending on the year, you may have a lewmar pedestal instead of an edison. That will make a difference as to the fitment of the pod on the pedestal guard. Will you be hooking up the 175c to the VHF for DSC? Remember that you have to watch where you put the antenna, that an errent line will not catch it and rip it off. It should have as clear a line of sight as possible, and be as close to the center of the boat as possible. Yes, I know that there is the cone of accuracy, but with the WAAS you end up being accurate to about 3-6 feet most times where I am. That and the visiable angle of the antenna is best if it is not almost under water when well heeled. JMHO.

How I did it on my new 25

Mike, On my 2006 25, I use a ram mount that is 1 and 1/4 inch to mount on the pedestal guard and then the appropriate mounts from RAM to finish the installation. I'm using a different gps than you have, so the remaining mounts are different. The RAM part that clamps around the Lewmar Cobra pedestal is ram219. I drilled a hole in the pedestal for the wire to run through near the gps. The wire then can be feed through the pedestal into the bottom of the boat behind the curtain at the rear. You can then send the wires to one of the accessories areas of the 12v panel.
